Adrian Veștea, the proposed prime minister, stated in an interview with Alessandra Stoicescu that he does not intend to leave PNL, in the context of internal discussions about a possible exclusion after his nomination for the position of prime minister. Veștea emphasized that the priority should be the situation in Romania, not his political fate, asserting that he has done much for the party and will continue to do so.
He mentioned that, regardless of the decision of the PNL leadership, he will remain a dedicated liberal. This situation is unprecedented, being the first time that PNL discusses the exclusion of a prime minister from its ranks. The statements come after a meeting of the National Political Bureau of PNL, where voices were raised supporting the sanctioning of Veștea for accepting the nomination without consulting the leadership.
