The designated Prime Minister Adrian Veștea said on Monday that, after President Nicușor Dan appointed him to form the government, he tried to get in touch with the president of PNL, Ilie Bolojan, both by phone and by message, but has not received any response until now.
"After the appointment, I called, I sent him a message. I have not had any reaction until this moment. We will discuss during the course of today," said Adrian Veştea, according to News.ro.
Veștea acknowledged that he surprised everyone, both his family and colleagues, with this nomination.
He emphasized that, although he had to provide many explanations on Sunday, he believes he made a correct and responsible decision at a critical moment for the country.
In contrast, Ilie Bolojan reacted harshly, considering Veștea's appointment a hostile act and an attempt to break PNL.
Veștea also stated that he will take over "to the letter" Ilie Bolojan's government program and promised a list of ministers with integrity and professional expertise.
We remind that PNL is meeting to discuss the party's position regarding the newly appointed prime minister.
