According to Eurostat data, Romania remains in last place in the European Union in terms of the budget allocated to research and development, with only €19 per capita. By comparison, Bulgaria allocates €38 and Hungary €58. The European average is €284, with Luxembourg, Denmark and the Netherlands investing the most.
