<p>The Târnava Târnava river has reached a record salinity of 14 grams/l, similar to that of the Black Sea, seriously affecting aquatic fauna. Fish and beavers have been found dead, with some species managing to survive in areas with less saline water. Authorities are working to reduce the ecological impact by setting up pumps to remove contaminated water. This pollution is affecting downstream communities, leaving 40,000 people without running water.
