The draft law approved by the government on Friday includes budget measures that change the taxation of gambling winnings. Although a significant tax increase was originally proposed, the final form has reduced these increases. Thus, winnings up to 10,000 lei will be taxed at 4%, and for winnings between 10,000 and 66,750 lei, the tax will be 400 lei plus 20% of the amount exceeding 10,000 lei. The 40% rate for high earners remains, but with an adjustment to the fixed amount. The bill will be adopted on a vote of no confidence without parliamentary debate.
