The government-adopted ordinance project provides for an increase in the VAT threshold from 300,000 lei to 395,000 lei, thus facilitating access for small businesses to the special exemption regime. This change is awaited by the business environment and comes after a warning from the European Commission regarding the delay in transposing the directive. Companies that exceed the threshold of 395,000 lei will need to register for VAT purposes, while those established before 2025 can request removal from the records if they do not exceed the exemption threshold.
