From stricter laws to AI-powered smartphones, both regulators and companies are rushing to protect children from harmful online content. In the UK, the new Online Safety Act places legal pressure on tech firms to protect children from inappropriate content, hate speech, cyberbullying, fraud, and child sexual abuse materials. Companies that do not comply with the act could face fines of up to 10% of their global annual revenue.

The US is also making progress with a landmark legislation. The proposed Children’s Online Safety Act would hold social media platforms legally accountable for preventing harm to young users.
