Dacia will launch a new version of the electric Spring model, larger and manufactured in Europe, in an effort to expand its presence in the electric vehicle market. The new car will be produced at the Renault plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, and deliveries are scheduled to begin at the start of 2027.
The new Spring will be built on the same platform as the Renault Twingo and a similar Nissan model. The car will be 18 centimeters longer than the current generation and will have a more robust design. The starting price will be 17,900 euros.
Manufacturing in Europe will allow the model to benefit from subsidies intended for vehicles produced on the continent and avoid the customs tariffs imposed by the European Union on electric cars manufactured in China. The current-generation Spring is imported from China, which is why it was excluded from the French support program for low-income buyers.
Dacia has sold approximately 210,000 Spring models from 2021 to the present, but registrations have lost ground in France amid the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market. The company intends to offer four electric models by 2030 and is maintaining its simple-equipment strategy: the new Spring will be available in four colors and two trim levels.
