Stellantis is seeking to regain its position in the European market by launching small, affordable electric cars, as the group’s sales and market share decline and Chinese manufacturers rapidly expand their presence in the region.
At an event held ahead of the Paris Motor Show, CEO Antonio Filosa presented six of the group’s nine prepared concepts. The centerpiece is an electric reinterpretation of the Citroën 2CV, one of the icons of the French automotive industry.
The concept anticipates the launch, in 2028, of an electric car produced in Europe and sold at a price of approximately €15,000. The model is part of the new “e-car” category, intended to revitalize the entry-level car segment.
Stellantis will also present the DS7, Fiat Grizzly, Lancia Gamma and Opel Corsa GSE models in Paris, alongside the Chinese Leapmotor B03 and D19 cars, developed as part of the group’s partnership.
The strategy follows two years of declining market share and profitability in Europe and North America. The plan through 2030 includes dozens of new models, cost reductions and expanded cooperation with Chinese partners. Investors are still waiting for evidence that the measures will restore sales and profit growth.
