The National University of Defense Technology of China successfully conducted a test with a Maglev vehicle, accelerating it from 0 to 700 km/h in just two seconds, thus setting a new world record for magnetic levitation trains. The test took place on a 400-meter track and demonstrated the advancements made in Maglev technology after ten years of research. This achievement has overcome the technical challenges related to high-speed electromagnetic propulsion and the use of superconducting magnets.
The test opens new opportunities for the development of Maglev transport in vacuum tubes and for aerospace applications. China is significantly investing in Maglev technology, considering that the first operational line was opened in 2004, and in 2021 it showcased the fastest Maglev train, capable of reaching 600 km/h.
