British driver Andy Green has set a world speed record for hydrogen-powered vehicles, achieving an average speed of 663 km/h with the special racing car Hydromax, on the famous Bonneville salt flats in Utah, USA.

The 64-year-old driver is known for his absolute land speed record of 1228 km/h, set in 1997.

During recent attempts, he completed two runs, recording 645 km/h in the first and 663 km/h in the second, with an average of 654 km/h.

This record has been recognized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and includes three categories: the fastest hydrogen internal combustion engine car, the fastest hydrogen fuel cell car, and the fastest electric vehicle.

Hydromax, a 9.75-meter-long vehicle, uses two 800-horsepower engines and operates on hydrogen, generating significantly less pollution than traditional engines.
