The Chinese company ByteDance, the owner of the TikTok app, has decided to sell its American division to a consortium made up of three firms from the United States, each holding 15% of the new entity. The agreement, which will be signed on January 22, 2026, will end the legal dispute that began during Donald Trump's first term and continued under the Biden administration. As part of the transaction, affiliates of some investors will obtain 30.1%, while ByteDance will retain 19.9% of the shares. The TikTok algorithm will be retrained using exclusively data from American users, with Oracle having the role of overseeing the protection of this data. The agreement has been approved by both parties, paving the way for the official completion of the sale in January.
