The Italian Authority for Competition and Market (AGCM) has fined the low-cost airline Wizz Air 500,000 euros for unfair commercial practices related to the annual subscription 'Wizz All You Can Fly'. The subscription, sold at the price of 599 euros, was promoted as an 'unlimited' service; however, AGCM found that the information provided to customers was incomplete and misleading. The company omitted essential details about applicable restrictions, such as booking windows and the limited number of available seats. Additionally, certain contractual clauses were deemed abusive, allowing Wizz Air to unilaterally change the terms of the service without providing adequate protection to consumers. AGCM concluded that these practices created a significant imbalance between the rights and obligations of consumers.
