Wizz Air cancels five flights from Craiova / Sorin Manda: “We are making every effort to find solutions that will continue to ensure the connectivity of Craiova and the entire region”

Starting in October, Wizz Air will suspend five routes operated from Craiova International Airport, while the airline will reduce the frequency of other flights. Airport director Sorin Manda said the decision is part of a broader process of reallocating Wizz Air’s capacity in Romania and that “the end is not here.”

The Craiova–Bologna and Craiova–Venice routes will be suspended from October 24, the flight to Rome Fiumicino from October 23, the one to Barcelona from October 22, and the route to Paris Beauvais from October 21. With the start of the winter schedule, flights to Naples and Athens will also be suspended, according to the operator’s seasonal schedule.

Wizz Air will also reduce frequencies on several routes. Flights to Bari will decrease from four to two per week, those to London Luton from seven to three, those to Milan Bergamo from seven to five, and those to Birmingham from three to two weekly flights.

Sorin Manda, the brother of PSD MEP Claudiu Manda and brother-in-law of Craiova mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu, said that relocating an aircraft from Craiova was a decision belonging exclusively to the airline. He said the airport continues to seek solutions to maintain the region’s connectivity following investments in infrastructure and cooperation with air operators.
