An analysis in the Italian press examines Camelia Mihăilescu’s role in the political career of General Roberto Vannacci, leader of the National Future movement

An analysis published by Corriere della Sera and republished by Rador examines the role of Camelia Mihăilescu in the family and political career of her husband, General Roberto Vannacci, leader of Italy’s National Future movement. The central question is whether the former commander retains his political autonomy or whether his wife has influenced his positions favorable to Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Camelia Mihăilescu, originally from Romania, rejects the idea that she steered her husband toward pro-Russian positions. Nevertheless, the analysis recalls her public appearances favorable to Russia, including a video in which she celebrated the Kremlin leader, as well as the time she spent in Moscow, which she described as one of the most beautiful periods of her life.

In Moscow, she led AFASA, the association of the spouses of foreign military officers, and organized cultural events, coming into contact with Russian diplomatic and military circles.

With degrees in Law and Pedagogy, fluency in four foreign languages, and experience in military academic institutions in Bucharest, including in the area of classified documents, Camelia is portrayed as a disciplined figure well connected to military culture. She maintains that the family has a matriarchal culture, while her two daughters reinforce her position within the family.
