Cristela Georgescu, the wife of former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu, gave an interview lasting more than 40 minutes to American influencer Mario Nawfal, in which she reiterated, without presenting evidence, the main talking points of the sovereigntist movement. The discussion took place after Călin Georgescu was detained for 30 days and was presented as a plea on his behalf before an international audience.

Cristela Georgescu claimed that Romania was going through a period more serious than communism, that her family had been threatened, and that video broadcasts by supporters had been censored or “jammed.” She also argued that Călin Georgescu’s popularity on TikTok was due exclusively to his messages and not to coordinated campaigns or funding.

The former candidate’s wife challenged the accusations in his case and called for intervention by the United States, arguing that Romania is a strategic partner of Washington. During the program, Mario Nawfal also made accusations against DIICOT, without presenting evidence.

Nawfal is known for interviews with politicians and conservative figures, including George Simion, Donald Trump, and Aleksandr Lukashenko. He has repeatedly amplified the messages of Călin Georgescu and Andrew Tate, but has also faced allegations from former associates concerning alleged financial fraud, tax evasion, and unpaid funds.
