The White House is evaluating the possibility of replacing the U.S. ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, following reports of alleged favors, gifts, and controversial contacts with businesspeople, The Wall Street Journal reports, as cited by EFE.
The American publication presented recordings in which Guilfoyle allegedly boasted that Greek businesspeople pay for her luxury trips. In another conversation, she allegedly asked an American businessman to obtain an invitation for her to a dinner organized in honor of Eric Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The State Department’s inspector general is investigating whether the ambassador accepted gifts or favors. The investigation follows reports that Guilfoyle allegedly asked a Republican donor to pay a $100,000 debt accumulated on her card before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. In return, she allegedly promised him access to the White House and Trump administration officials.
Also, a senior American official told The Associated Press on Sunday that Trump and Rubio are “extremely furious” about Guilfoyle’s reported behavior and will probably decide what measures to take this week, after Monday’s federal holiday.
