The OMB has announced a proposed budget that calls for a significant increase in defense and homeland security spending amid an urgent need to support the U.S. military. Defense spending would increase by 13% and national security spending by nearly 65%. At the same time, non-defense discretionary spending would be cut by 23% to its lowest level since 2017.
