Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, will make a state visit to India on December 4 and 5, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to a statement from the Kremlin. This visit will allow for discussions on various aspects of Russian-Indian relations, considered a privileged strategic partnership, as well as current international and regional issues.
During the visit, a joint declaration and trade agreements are expected to be signed. Relations between India and the West have recently become strained due to India's purchases of Russian oil, which has led to sanctions from the United States. This visit takes place in a complex geopolitical context, in which India seeks to maintain a balance between its traditional partners.
