In Cameroon, four people were killed in violent clashes between supporters of opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma, and security forces, following the presidential elections on October 12. Tchiroma, who contests the 43-year rule of President Paul Biya, stated that he won 54.8% of the votes, although most analysts expect Biya, at the age of 92, to secure a new term.
In the city of Douala, demonstrators attacked a gendarmerie brigade, and authorities used tear gas to disperse the crowds. Despite the ban on organizing public gatherings, Tchiroma's supporters gathered in large numbers, demanding change. Opposition leaders were also arrested, and authorities warned that protests could lead to a security crisis.
