According to a report by the American non-governmental organization Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED), over 100,000 people have been killed in Myanmar since the beginning of the Civil War, following the coup d'état in 2021. The estimated toll reaches 100,114 deaths, but there are no official data, and estimates vary.

The conflict is considered by analysts to be the deadliest in Southeast Asia currently, occurring after the overthrow of the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. Protests against the coup have been brutally suppressed by security forces, and democracy activists have joined the armed movements of ethnic minorities to fight against the junta. This situation has led to an escalation of violence and armed conflict throughout the country.
