Former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused the Tisza government of imposing an authoritarian regime and threatened to reveal the identities of officials working for the National Office for the Recovery and Protection of Assets (NVVH). The statements were made in an interview broadcast after his party’s electoral defeat.

Orbán described the NVVH as an AVH-style institution, referring to the secret police of the communist era, and argued that the lawmakers who created the body would bear political responsibility for its actions. He warned that employees and individuals involved in the institution’s procedures would not escape financial and legal liability after the “restoration of the rule of law.”

The former prime minister said his party would monitor those working at the NVVH and make their names, professional histories, and roles public. Opposition leader Magyar responded on Facebook, accusing Orbán of threatening prosecutors, police officers, and officials.

In the same interview, Orbán claimed that his right-wing government had restored Hungary’s sovereignty between 2010 and 2026 and criticized the current administration’s pro-Brussels orientation. He rejected corruption allegations, blamed the government’s policies for the economic difficulties, and urged the right to reorganize and remain united.
