The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has accused Israel of imposing severe restrictions on the delivery of essential medical supplies for children in Gaza. Among these are 1.6 million syringes needed for a vaccination campaign and approximately one million bottles of baby formula.
Due to these blockades, over 40,000 children who missed routine vaccinations during the conflict cannot be immunized. UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires emphasized that the syringes have been stuck in customs since August, being considered by Israel as "dual-use equipment," with potential military applications. UNICEF and other humanitarian agencies are constantly calling for safe access for aid intended for the population in Gaza, where the medical system is in a critical state after months of war.
