UNRWA announced on platform X that its teams are making efforts to help Palestinian families survive in extremely difficult conditions, following the massive destruction of neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip. The toll of the destruction amounts to approximately 61 million tons of rubble, the result of intense bombings over the past two years.
However, the agency has been banned by the Israeli government from operating in the Palestinian territories, with authorities accusing it of links to 'terrorist' activities and the Hamas movement. Recently, the International Court of Justice concluded that Israel has not presented sufficient evidence for these accusations. UNRWA emphasizes that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is 'catastrophic', and efforts to rebuild infrastructure are nearly impossible due to access restrictions and lack of resources.
