Real estate associations in Greece report an increase in illegal rentals of vacation properties by Bulgarians who do not comply with tax laws. They are renting properties on Bulgarian websites without paying taxes, affecting competition with Greek agencies. Bulgaria and Romania's entry into Schengen has also led to an increase in property purchases by citizens of these countries, causing a significant rise in prices in Halkidiki, making houses unaffordable for Greeks.
