The UK has selected Rolls-Royce to build small modular nuclear reactors, investing £2.5 billion over the next four years

The UK government has chosen Rolls-Royce to develop the UK's first small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) as part of its plan to cut carbon emissions. The £2.5 billion investment will support energy security and local industry. By 2025, contracts will be signed for the first three SMR units, which could create 3,000 jobs and power 3 million homes. Romania is also exploring SMR technology in collaboration with NuScale for a project at Doicești.
