Uber has announced a $300 million investment in Lucid Motors to develop a fleet of robotaxi taxis, which will debut in 2026 in a major US city. The project involves the purchase of more than 20,000 Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with autonomous driving technology from startup Nuro. The initiative marks Uber's return to autonomous vehicles, after it ditched its in-house division in 2020. Lucid shares rose 26% following the announcement, although they are down 24% since the start of the year.
