Two members of the UN mission staff in Afghanistan have been arrested by the country's intelligence service, the global organization stated for AFP.
"We confirm that two male Afghan members of the UNAMA staff were detained on Sunday, August 9, by officials of the General Directorate of Intelligence (de facto authorities)," the mission specified in a statement. The arrests come just a few days before the five-year anniversary of the Taliban's return to power, following the capture of Kabul on August 15, 2021.
