German police arrested two Bulgarian citizens—a 28-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man—suspected of throwing incendiary devices at buildings on Mühldorfstrasse in Munich on the night between Wednesday and Thursday. Several companies from the defense industry are located on this street.
A witness reported the incident to police around midnight, saying that the devices had been launched from a car. Officers immediately extinguished one of the devices, while a second was defused. The two suspects were later detained at a gas station.
Authorities are investigating the case on the assumption that it may have been politically motivated. Criminal police and the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office have taken over the investigation to establish the circumstances and any potential targets of the action.
The Rohde & Schwarz Group, which specializes in security technologies for governments and the military, confirmed that the devices had been found near its headquarters, without the building being affected. The company Helsing, which develops artificial intelligence software and autonomous defense systems, also has offices on the same street.—
