The German authorities have identified two suspects in connection with the incident at Leipzig-Halle airport, where drones were loaded with explosives. According to WELT reports, the first suspect, of Belarusian origin, entered the Schengen area with an Italian tourist visa and has a criminal record in the Baltic states. The second suspect had a Latvian passport and a Russian one. He was reportedly responsible for the logistics of the attack and entered Germany through Berlin's BER airport.

The investigation was supported by DNA traces found at the crime scene, identified in European databases. The German government considers Russia responsible for the attempted attack, citing the use of explosives and techniques known from Russian hybrid operations. In response, measures such as the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and tightening controls for Russian citizens have been adopted. Russia denies any involvement in the incident.
