Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Saturday that the main danger to the transatlantic community does not come from external enemies, but from the disintegration of the Alliance. His comments come following the Pentagon's announcement regarding the withdrawal of approximately 5,000 American troops from Germany, a decision considered a blow to Germany, which hosts 35,000 American soldiers.
Tusk emphasized the importance of joint actions to reverse the disastrous trend of the Alliance's disintegration. Additionally, the withdrawal of American troops is part of a broader strategy, considering that their numbers will return to pre-2022 levels, when Russia's invasion of Ukraine led to an increase in military presence in Europe. At the same time, Trump announced an increase in tariffs on car imports from the EU, which could affect the German economy.
