Donald Trump claims that Russia has lost control of the diesel industry due to Ukrainian attacks on refineries

United States President Donald Trump claimed that Russia had temporarily lost control of a significant part of its diesel industry after several refineries were damaged in Ukrainian attacks. The statement was made on Truth Social amid rising global diesel prices.

Trump said that “a large number” of Russian refineries had been taken offline and called for an end to the war with Ukraine. He claimed that approximately 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are killed each month, without providing details or sources for this estimate.

According to the BBC, Ukrainian attacks have caused a severe gasoline shortage in Russia this year. The diesel supply situation has reportedly improved, but Russian exports of the product have been suspended.

A day earlier, Trump spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and reportedly asked him to halt attacks on Russian refineries. A source cited by Axios said that the term “diesel” was mentioned several times during the conversation. On Sunday, a Ukrainian attack on Moscow also targeted the capital’s refinery, where a fire broke out. At least 450 drones were reportedly shot down near the city.
