American President Donald Trump signed this morning the law that ends the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, which lasted 43 days. The House of Representatives passed the bill with 222 votes in favor and 209 against, with the support of six Democrats. This shutdown affected thousands of federal employees, who worked without pay or were temporarily laid off. The bill was also approved by the Senate, providing a reprieve until the end of January to avoid a new funding crisis. Additionally, some agencies will benefit from funding until the end of fiscal year 2026, protecting them from future political disputes.
