The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Friday at the White House that Russia has been attacking the countries allied with Ukraine for approximately five years. The statement was made amid concerns expressed in Poland about possible Russian attacks on states supporting Kyiv.

“It has been attacking Ukraine’s allies for approximately five years,” Trump said in response to a journalist’s question. The American leader provided no further details and added that, in his view, “everyone agrees” with this assessment.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told lawmakers that he expects Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and its supporters to intensify in the coming weeks. According to intelligence assessments presented by Tusk, apparently accidental drone and missile attacks could take place against countries supporting Ukraine, including Poland.

The statements come after Germany accused Moscow of attempting a drone attack on the airport in Leipzig. Trump had previously downplayed the risk of a Russian attack on NATO territory, stating that President Vladimir Putin does not intend to attack the Alliance.
