The Director General of the BBC, Tim Davie, and the Executive Director of the News Department, Deborah Turness, have resigned following criticism that a BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers by editing a speech by American President Donald Trump.

The case, revealed on Tuesday by the conservative newspaper The Daily Telegraph, refers to a documentary from the BBC news program "Panorama," aired a week before the presidential elections in the United States on November 5, 2024. The BBC is accused of editing distinct segments of a speech by Donald Trump in such a way that it appears he is telling his supporters that he will go with them to the Capitol to "fight like hell." In the complete sentence, he says "we will go to the Capitol and we will encourage our brave senators and representatives in Congress," and the phrase "fight like hell" corresponds to another passage.
