American federal agents shot two people in Portland, Oregon, who were later transported to the hospital, police said Thursday afternoon, urging the local community to remain calm after heightened tensions that followed another shooting incident that occurred a day earlier in Minneapolis.

“We understand the emotion and heightened tension that many feel in the wake of the shootings in Minneapolis, but I urge the community to remain calm while we try to learn more,” said police chief Bob Day.
