The Trump administration has announced a civil nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia, aimed at strengthening trade relations and regional security.

The U.S. Department of Energy welcomed this agreement, which includes a "123 Agreement" for nuclear cooperation and a bilateral agreement on nuclear safeguards. Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized that the agreement adheres to the highest standards of nuclear safety and non-proliferation.

However, some reports suggest that the agreement could allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium domestically, which could generate controversy in Washington.

The agreement will be subject to Congressional review and is considered a long-term partnership with significant economic implications. In the context of tensions with Iran, this agreement is seen as a strategic step in strengthening American influence in the region.
