The emergency meeting of the UN Security Council was requested by Algeria and other states after Hamas reported six deaths following the Israeli attack on Tuesday in Doha. Qatar condemned the attack, considering it a violation of international norms. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu justified the raid as a response to previous Hamas attacks. Criticism of Israel also came from international leaders, including Donald Trump and Friedrich Merz.
