The Swedish government intends to impose on migrants the obligation to lead an "honest life," threatening them with expulsion in case of reprehensible behaviors, such as threats to public order or connections with extremist organizations. John Stauffer, a lawyer for the organization Civil Rights Defenders, warns that the reforms will have serious consequences for the affected migrants. Behaviors considered unacceptable include accumulating debts without the intention of repaying them and committing fraud in the field of social assistance. Critics, including human rights organizations, emphasize that these measures discriminate against migrants and affect freedom of expression. The Minister of Migration, Johan Forssell, stated that it is not a human right to remain in Sweden and that migrants must demonstrate a desire to integrate. This legislation could create a climate of insecurity and unpredictability for migrants, also affecting activism activities. Satirical critiques of the minister suggest that he could also be targeted by his own measures, having connections with extremist organizations.
