The trial of the 35 individuals accused of responsibility for the fire at the 'Pulse' nightclub in North Macedonia began on Wednesday, in the presence of the victims' families. The fire, which occurred on the night of March 15 to 16, resulted in the deaths of 63 people, mostly young individuals, and was caused by multiple violations of safety regulations. Among the accused are the club owner and former public officials.
The judge requested discipline in the courtroom, emphasizing that the trial will take time, but every effort will be made to proceed without issues. The victims' families are demanding justice and accountability, protesting weekly to call for a fair trial. There are concerns that the trial will be long and complex, given the large number of defendants and documents involved. Activist Darko Avramovski highlighted the importance of a quality procedure that respects legal standards.
