According to The Washington Post, the Pentagon is considering reducing the American military presence in the Gulf as a result of the conflict with Iran, which has highlighted security issues at U.S. military bases.
American military leaders are discussing options for relocating troops, considering that the restoration and modernization of current bases are costly and complicated. The main option being analyzed is moving the soldiers westward, to countries like Jordan, Israel, or Saudi Arabia, to distance them from Iran.
So far, no official decision has been made, and the strategy will also depend on the evolution of the conflict in Iran, where both parties claim to be in strong positions and control navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
