According to officials cited under the protection of anonymity by USA Today, the Pentagon is adjusting its plans related to Cuba, preparing for orders from President Donald Trump. The Department of Defense stated that it does not wish to speculate on "hypothetical scenarios," mentioning that the armed forces remain ready to carry out the president's orders. Tensions between Cuba and the United States have intensified since January, culminating in accusations from Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who accused Washington of intimidating traders with the island and defended Cuba's right to import fuel. Additionally, Trump has increased pressure on the Cuban government by blocking Venezuelan oil deliveries, which has worsened an already existing economic crisis. Cuba's economy has contracted by 15% between 2020 and 2025, according to EFE.
