The London Marathon will be held for the first time in its history over two days, on April 24 and 25, 2027, according to an announcement made by the BBC.
This change allows organizers to accept a record number of 100,000 participants, with women running on Saturday and men on Sunday. Hugh Brasher, the executive director of the London Marathon, stated that this decision provides the opportunity for more people, charities, and communities to participate in the world's largest marathon.
This year's edition managed to raise 90 million pounds for charitable causes, and for next year's edition, 1.33 million people registered for the lottery, marking an 18% increase over the previous record. This continuously growing popularity underscores the importance and impact of the London Marathon in the community.
