The 2027 Tour de France will have 21 stages, 3,479 kilometers and three rest days, with the start taking place on Friday, July 2, in Edinburgh. The peloton will cross Scotland, England and Wales in the first three stages, before the transfer to France. Edinburgh will thus become the northernmost city to host the start of the competition.
The route includes two individual time trials, in Blois–Chambord and Toulouse, as well as three uphill finishes. The first major showdown is scheduled for the ninth stage, finishing at Grand Colombier, in the Alps. The Tour will continue with difficult stages in Haute-Savoie, the Cévennes and the Pyrenees.
The highlight will be the 18th stage, between Pau and Saint-Lary-Soulan. The cyclists will climb four mountain passes, including Col du Soulor, Col du Tourmalet and Col du Portet, where the finish will be set at an altitude of 2,215 meters. The stage could decide the battle for the yellow jersey.
The final mountain stage will take place in the 19th stage, before the peloton reaches Paris on July 25. The finish on the Champs-Élysées will include three passages over Côte de la rue Lepic, in Montmartre.
Tadej Pogačar, winner of the 2026 edition, will try to secure his sixth title in the general classification. The Slovenian would thus become the first rider in history to surpass the record of five victories currently held by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.
