The President of Iran, Massoud Pezeshkian, has requested the Ministry of Interior to listen to the "legitimate demands" of the merchants who protested in recent days in Tehran due to the high cost of living and hyperinflation. He emphasized the importance of dialogue with the representatives of the protesters to enable the government to act effectively. The Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also urged politicians to take measures to improve the purchasing power of the population.

Spontaneous protests began in the largest phone market in Tehran and spread, with merchants closing their shops in a sign of discontent. Although most shops were open on Tuesday morning, riot police were present in central areas. The Iranian economy is facing chronic hyperinflation, with prices rising by 52% per year, and international sanctions have worsened the situation.
