Edouard Philippe, Prime Minister under President Macron from 2017 to 2020, stated that the resignation should be followed by the organization of early presidential elections, once France adopts its budget for the next year. Macron is facing a deep political crisis, and Philippe's call comes in the context of the government's resignation, just 14 hours after the appointment of key ministers.
