A new cargo transport corridor between Egypt and Italy, linking Europe to the Gulf states, has become an emergency solution for global trade. This route, which uses a roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) system, connects the port of Damietta in Egypt with the port of Trieste in Italy, facilitating the transport of goods to the Gulf markets, including the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

The activity of this corridor has increased in the context of instability surrounding key maritime routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, which manages a significant portion of global energy flows. The Ro-Ro model allows trucks to transition directly from maritime to land transport, reducing transit times. The service benefits from simplified customs procedures, which contributes to streamlining deliveries. Egypt aims to become a regional logistics hub, leveraging its strategic geographical position.
