In the Zeitoun neighborhood, Palestinians were trying to shield themselves from the torrential rains that were flooding the area around the tents. The conditions are particularly difficult, with children eating in front of plastic shelters, while others are facing puddles that reach up to their ankles. A UN report shows that 761 locations, housing approximately 850,000 people, are at risk of flooding.
Although Gaza has a usual period of heavy rains, the destruction caused by war has made the region even more vulnerable. Humanitarian aid is insufficient, and the population is facing severe shortages. The Civil Defense in Gaza reported serious damages, including one person deceased due to the collapse of a wall. Authorities are calling for more effective solutions, such as mobile shelters, to cope with the critical situation.
