The British government accuses Russia of secret operations in its territorial waters

Healey emphasized that British forces have demonstrated that the Russian submarines were being monitored, sending a warship and an aircraft to oversee their activities. In a direct warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Healey stated that any attempt to sabotage the infrastructure will be severely punished. The Russian Embassy in London dismissed the accusations as unfounded. The United Kingdom relies on approximately 60 submarine cables for the functioning of its economy and communications, and damage to these would have dramatic consequences.
