From June 1, distilleries, wine cellars and micro-breweries in Sweden will be able to sell directly to customers, a relaxation of a 100-year monopoly. Anna Anerfalt stressed the need to warn visitors about the dangers of alcohol. Sales will be limited to one 0.7-liter bottle per visitor and controls will remain strict. Although a modest increase in sales is expected, there are concerns about the impact on the Systembolaget monopoly and the increase in social problems linked to alcohol consumption.
